Wesley Geer on stage with Korn

Wesstyle recently gave an interview for OC Radio Live. He said, that he would like to bring original (hed)p.e. back to record a new album and possibly tour with Korn. Original ex-members BC and Chad seems to be ready to do that.

Spread the word, hopefully Jahred will agree…

Thanx to Finger for the news.

Wesley Geer interview

After a long hiatus Wesley Geer went back on stage to rock: he joined his old friends from Korn. Since and their latest Korn III: Remember Who You Are he gave an interview to kornzone.pl:

Written by Mateuniu

How did you start working for KoRn as a tour guitarist?

I have known the Korn guys for a long time through my band (hed) P.E., we played together and rehearsed right next to eachother back in the early days of our bands, so when the time came, Munky and I spoke about the possibility of me playing with Korn and of course I jumped at the chance!

How do feel the fans reception for you?

You know the fans have been great! So many have actually written me emails, on Facebook and welcomed me into the ‘KoRn family” -I think that is amazing and something I certainly did not expect. So far, I have gotten nothing but great feedback from all the fans about the shows, so that makes me really happy. Obviously as an artist you know there is no way to please everyone, but so far so good!

Was it hard to learn KoRn’s cataloge of songs, how many of them you know how to play? which one as the hardest for you to learn?

There is a list of songs by fan votes that I start with and have been learning as many of those as possible. Korn has so many great songs though, I have a lot more work to do. I think if there was a toughest to learn so far, it would be Clown, just because to play it really awesome and tight took a minute, to get it to where I was happy….

Have you ever forgotten or mistaken notes on stage?

Of course, sometimes your brain can slip or you can just play something in a different way because you are in the moment. But you try and make it work or do a quick adjustment. Sometimes mistakes can turn into something beautiful. Sometimes they can just make me really really mad! Then I have to wait to the next show to kick ass and feel better. haha! But you know, all the artists I love and respect -it wasn’t about perfect, as much as it was about passion. Hopefully I have the right combo of the two. Look at Kurt Cobain, Led Zeppelin, even the first Korn album….there’s more to music than perfection.

What is your favorite KoRn song to play?

hmmm great question, that changes nightly. I have been a huge KoRn fan for a lot of years, so I usually have the most fun with a new song I have never played before live….

What are the best and worst sides of KoRn’s busy schedule? are you used to touring that much all the time?

I toured for ten years with my band Hed P.E., so yah I am used to a busy schedule. Tour is obviously much bigger than hed ever was so we get to play to more people and better venues and just so many amazing opportunities that happen being in a band that is this successful, its what I dreamed of my whole life. I feel so blessed just to be here with this opportunity.

What was the most funny moment on tour with KoRn for you?

Well on my second show [Czech] during ‘Right Now’ I jumped in the air and when I landed my knee bent backwards WHAM! and hyperextended! It hurt so bad I fell on the ground and could barely play. so I was drooling out of my mouth in pain just smacking the guitar and just noise was coming out. Fieldy was playing and didn’t see what had happened, but at the end of that song he came over and calmly said “Hey I think you are playing the end of that song wrong.” -I thought that was hysterical! I was like “I know I was on the ground drooling on myself!” HAHA We both laughed.

What were your feelings after the first big show with KoRn, in Poland, that was the first gig on European Tour?

Well I was so happy to have gotten the first one under my belt. To be honest though, after the show I gave myself a report card, and I had to make a long list of things I wanted to play better and go conquer to be ready for the next show. I had played a few parts poorly and was still learning the flow of the set. I really just couldn’t wait to keep playing and playing more shows to get comfortable and just enjoy the music. I also remembered the Polish fans were amazing and a really great audience, I had never gotten to play in Poland before!

Thanks for the interview, and thanks to everyone for all the support.
